There is trouble in the water. Still waters run deep. There is trouble in these waters.
Still waters are stirring.
A tap. A metal cock.

The water in Marie Hanlon’s installation Cut Off has come to a stop. It is a perspex knot; a perplexed knot of anger. Water sustainability is another anxiety to burden the little individual with. Feel bad and feel powerless. Data hubs around the country pay no tax and flush our water through their systems – glug, glug, glug – the well never runs dry. The earth will never run out of water, but us humans might run out of access to clean drinkable water.
